{Politics: Al Furat News} The Parliamentary Services and Reconstruction Committee revealed, today, Friday, the percentage of completion of projects that have been stalled and halted for years.
Committee member Baqir Al-Saadi told Al-Furat News Agency, "The current government is a service government, as it recorded the number of projects that were suspended during previous governments in all governorates, amounting to 732 suspended projects."
He explained, "The reason for the suspension of these projects was the lack of financial allocations for them or legal problems, which prompted the government to support and resume work on their implementation, as nearly 65% of service projects were completed in all governorates."
Al-Saadi explained that "during the coming periods, new projects will be introduced, especially in the field of infrastructure, and a budget of up to 800 billion dinars will be allocated for them."
The Ministry of Planning announced on April 28 that "the stalled projects in Iraq amount to about 1,452 projects at a cost of up to 24 trillion dinars, as 10 trillion were spent as cumulative expenses, and the remainder needs procedures."
He pointed out that "the stalled projects are divided as follows: transportation and communications 63 projects, regional development 857 projects, the industrial sector 94, the agricultural sector 51, and buildings and services 387, and the total is 1452 stalled projects." The
planning department classified these projects into three categories: the first category, whose completion rate is 10 percent or less, the second category from (10 - 50) percent, and the last from 50 percent and above.
