The Ministry of Transport confirmed, on Monday, that the phase of starting the implementation of the development road will be in 2025 after the completion of the detailed design phase, and while it indicated that the Faw Port will be the starting point of the development road towards Europe, explaining that the road will pass through 11 Iraqi governorates.
The ministry's spokesman, Maitham Al-Safi, said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and seen by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "the development road project is the dream of Iraqis," noting that "Baghdad will host a meeting of the ministerial council that includes Turkey, Qatar and the Emirates on November 1 to discuss the progress of work under the direction of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani."
He added, "The Faw Port will be the starting point for the development path towards Europe," noting that "there are international companies that are partners in setting general policies and economic and financial visions for the development path."
He pointed out that "Turkey has a great interest in the passage linking it to Al-Faw and reaching the heart of London, where special financial amounts have been allocated for the development road by the Turkish side," stressing that "there is progress in the initial design stages, in addition to approvals for the project paths."
He added, "After the initial design phase, we will move on to the detailed designs and then the implementation process, which will take place during the year 2025."
He pointed out that "Iraq is dealing with the development road project scientifically and realistically in accordance with the interests of the Iraqi people," indicating that "the project will pass through 11 Iraqi governorates."
