    Baghdad Today - Erbil
Media professor Adalat Abdullah said today, Thursday (September 12, 2024), that the visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Iraq has great stakes .
Abdullah, in a statement to Baghdad Today, indicated that "the visit has calculations on the part of the region, and the issue of political differences that occurred between Baghdad and Erbil regarding the budget, the economic dispute, and the issue of salaries will be opened."
He added that "Erbil is trying to invest in the visit, so that the Iranian president can be a contributing party to resolving this problem, given Iran's influence inside Iraq, and the major Shiite powers will be approached, with the aim of making some concessions, and reaching a final agreement with the Kurdistan Region, regarding these differences."
He pointed out that "the region seeks to have a developed and solid relationship with Iran, and to enter a new phase through which political, economic and cultural ties are strengthened, and the atmosphere that occurs from time to time between Erbil and Baghdad is purified."
Yesterday morning, Wednesday, Pezeshkian arrived in Baghdad on his first visit abroad since his election last July, during which he seeks to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries .
Pezeshkian is visiting Baghdad at the head of a high-level delegation of political and economic officials, in response to an invitation from Al-Sudani.
The Iranian president's visit will last for 3 days, according to what was confirmed by the Iranian presidency website, which indicated that Pezeshkian will hold, in addition to official meetings, meetings with Iranians in Iraq and with businessmen, and will visit Najaf, Karbala and Basra.
    Bazishkian in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah
Today, Thursday, the Iranian President was a guest in the provinces of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah.
Iranian Consul in Erbil Mohammad Mahmoudian said during a press conference held on Wednesday that "Bezeshkian will visit Erbil and then head to Sulaymaniyah to meet with officials in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan . "
The Iranian consul explained that "Bezeshkian, who arrived in Baghdad at the head of a high-level delegation, met with senior Iraqi officials," adding that "the aim of this visit is to strengthen bilateral relations between Iran and neighboring countries, especially the Kurdistan Region."
Mahmoudian pointed out that the Iranian delegation, after meetings with Iraqi officials and signing several memoranda of understanding, will head to Kurdistan, where Zeshkian will meet with senior officials in the region .
He said: "He will begin his visit to Erbil on Thursday morning, before heading to Sulaymaniyah in the afternoon to hold meetings with the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Pavel Jalal Talabani, and a number of government and party officials ."
The Iranian consul pointed out that "the Iranian president will visit Sulaymaniyah and Erbil to strengthen historical, cultural and economic relations with the Kurdistan Region ."
