Parliamentary praise for government financial support for {Guests of Iraq}

The Iraqi embassy in Damascus announced the arrival of more than 3,000 tons of food and medical supplies to help those displaced by the Zionist bombing of southern Lebanon, while members of the House of Representatives praised the government's financial support allocated to help the displaced Lebanese in Iraq {guests of Iraq}.
The temporary chargé d'affaires at the Iraqi embassy in Damascus, Yassin Sharif Nassif, told Al-Sabah: "Iraqi relief efforts for our Lebanese brothers are continuing by the government, the Iraqi Red Crescent, and the holy shrines, as more than 3,000 tons of food and medical supplies have arrived so far."
He pointed out that "there is a mechanism for distributing meals between hotels where the Lebanese are staying in Syria, and establishing ready-made kitchens in the Sayyida Zeinab area with the aim of preparing meals and distributing them among the displaced families."
Nassif explained that "this aid and meals included Iraqis passing through Syria on their way to their country," stressing "the construction of a bakery to distribute bread among families in Damascus, and this is mostly due to the efforts of the holy shrines of Al-Abbas and Al-Hussainiya, in addition to the office of the martyr Sayyed Al-Sadr, which provided meals to the displaced."
He explained, "The embassy contributed to evacuating Iraqis coming from Beirut and transporting them to the capital, Damascus, and facilitating their travel to Baghdad, in addition to its contribution with the Lebanese embassy in Damascus to transporting the Lebanese after Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani directed to receive Lebanese who do not hold passports, by issuing a document or a transit passport from their embassy and instructing the Iraqi embassy to the border crossings to facilitate the entry of citizens into Iraq," and he praised the role of Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari in facilitating all these procedures for the Lebanese brothers.
In addition, members of the House of Representatives welcomed the Iraqi government’s announcement of allocating 3 billion dinars to support displaced Lebanese, as part of its efforts to provide humanitarian aid to the Lebanese people who are suffering from worsening economic and social crises. The House of Representatives stressed that this step comes in response to the major humanitarian challenges facing Lebanon at the present time. Member of the House of Representatives, Diaa Al-Hindi, explained in an interview with “Al-Sabah” that “the support provided by the Iraqi government is an urgent necessity,” adding that “this allocation is directed to purchasing essential needs and financial aid will not be delivered in cash, to avoid any misuse.”
Al-Hindi pointed out that “the coming period may witness the return of camps, in light of the continued deterioration of the situation in Lebanon, which reinforces the need for rapid international action to support displaced Lebanese.”
For his part, Member of Parliament, Aref Al-Hamami, told Al-Sabah: “Iraq’s position regarding the aggression against Lebanon is an honorable position, as it is the country that supports the Palestinian cause and against the aggressive Zionist occupation that defiled the Palestinian and Lebanese Arab lands. Therefore, Iraq stood with the Lebanese people to help them and provide the necessary logistical issues and quality services for the displaced.”
He stressed that "Iraq continues to support the Palestinian cause, in addition to supporting the displaced from Lebanon, and this step was emphasized by the religious authority and implemented by the government with all strength and boldness, and this declares the Iraqi position on the Palestinian cause, and supporting the displaced from Lebanon and providing them with services such as housing and other logistical and humanitarian services, and it is a position that is credited to Iraqi history as the rest of the honorable positions of Iraq."
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Migration and Displacement announced yesterday, Wednesday, the reception of a new batch of Lebanese citizens coming to
Iraq.
A statement by the ministry received by "Al-Sabah" stated that its cadres "at the Qaim port received the families coming from Lebanon, through the Qaim border port, with 452 Lebanese citizens," and the statement indicated that "the cadres provided them with all necessary facilities."
For its part, the Al-Abbas Shrine in Najaf Governorate announced yesterday, Wednesday, the reception of 1,732 displaced people from Lebanon.
The official of the Relief Support Committee at the shrine, Salam Al-Jubouri, said: "1,732 displaced people have arrived in Najaf so far, coming from Lebanon, after the deterioration of the security situation there."
Al-Jubouri added, "The guest house affiliated with the shrine was filled with Lebanese refugees, to be received in hotels and other cities, in addition to providing them with meals and basic necessities."
