[rtl]Basra / NINA / A meeting was held in Basra today, Wednesday, for representatives of the countries that signed the Quadripartite Memorandum of Understanding on the Development Road, to discuss the economic feasibility study of the project and determine the important paths to proceed with its implementation.
The Director General of the General Company for Iraqi Ports, Farhan Al-Fartousi, said in a statement: "According to the directives of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and Minister of Transport Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, on the necessity of accelerating the work steps in the Development Road project, a meeting was held for representatives of the countries that signed the Quadripartite Memorandum of Understanding on the Development Road, headed by Iraq and with the membership of Turkey, the Emirates and Qatar.
" He added: "Nasser Al-Asadi, Advisor to the Prime Minister, headed the Iraqi side in the meeting, while the delegation of the State of Qatar was headed by Land Transport Sector Advisor Ramzi Muhammad Al-Assar, and the delegation of the State of UAE was headed by Undersecretary of the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Youssef Abdullah Ali, in addition to a high-level delegation from Turkey."
He pointed out that: "There will be extensive discussions in order to complete the approval of the economic feasibility study and determine the important paths to proceed with the implementation of this project."
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sponsored, in Baghdad at the end of last April, the signing ceremony of a quadripartite memorandum of understanding between Iraq, Turkey, Qatar and the UAE, for joint cooperation on the strategic (Development Road Project), in the presence of members of the Turkish and Iraqi delegations, including ministers and advisors.
The memorandum includes the signatory countries setting the necessary frameworks to implement the project, which is one of the most prominent transportation projects in the region, by linking the East to the West via the Grand Faw Port. / End
