    Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani confirmed today, Thursday, that licenses will be granted for one million housing units during the life of the current government, while he pointed out that establishing housing units establishes the foundation for the emergence of a national industry and provides work.
    His media office stated in a statement received by "Al-Eqtisad News" that "Al-Sudani announced the launch of executive work on the Wasit Residential City project, with 30,000 serviced plots, and the (Kut Gate Residential Project), which includes an integrated residential complex and 15,000 serviced plots of land, during his visit to Wasit Governorate, which he arrived at this morning, Thursday."
    Al-Sudani announced "the launch of work for the first time on the real estate developer project, according to a new vision for the government that includes preparing serviced residential plots of land at symbolic prices for all citizens, and they can be obtained by low- and middle-income groups, in addition to allocating a percentage of the total units or plots of land to the local government to distribute them among the poor groups in the governorate."
    The Prime Minister explained that the housing project is in line with the government’s vision to solve the housing crisis, which is based on establishing integrated cities that include all economic, service and commercial activities, through partnership with the private sector, stressing the completion of granting licenses for about one million housing units during the life of this government, which has set several paths to provide housing, whether through completing the residential complexes that have been delayed for years or establishing new residential complexes, at the level of districts and city centers.
    He explained that "the trend towards establishing residential cities will establish the foundation for the emergence of a national industry that will secure the local market's needs for construction materials through the support of the private sector, and will also provide job opportunities for our graduates. He directed all governorates to expedite the preparation of all requirements to invest in this new method in preparing residential plots of land."
    He stressed that any project implemented by the government or the private sector must be in accordance with high-precision specifications, in order to be sustainable projects.
    The statement pointed out that "the Wasit Residential City project is being built in the Al-Safha area on an area of ​​5 thousand dunums and (35) thousand serviced plots of land. The project's implementing agency is the Wasit Investment Authority and the Kut Municipality Directorate. It includes integrated services of infrastructure, schools, water complexes and health centers, in accordance with the civilized design and urban planning. The 200-meter plot of land will be sold to the segments that have priority in the sale and who have not previously received a plot of land from the state.
    He explained that "the (Kut Gate Residential City) project will be built in the Yusufiyah area, on an area of ​​2,000 dunums, part of which will be a residential complex, and the other part will be serviced residential plots, a percentage of which will be handed over to the governorate to be distributed among the deserving groups."
