As part of the government's steps to adopt automation projects, the Ministry of Commerce is preparing to open the new building for the Companies Registration Department in the coming few days, and to follow modern electronic mechanisms in its work, after registering 82,000 local and foreign companies.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Mohammed Hanoun, told Al-Sabah: "The ministry has completed the new building for the Companies Registration Department, which is located within the boundaries of the Baghdad International Fair in the Al-Harithiya area, and it will be opened in the coming few days."
He added that the department is one of the important departments in the ministry, noting that there is a new mechanism represented by registering companies electronically through its website, as well as the possibility of registering the investor and submitting documents from anywhere.
He continued that the new building is characterized by modern and advanced technical specifications that are equivalent to its counterparts in neighboring countries, in terms of electronic work and simplifying procedures for the private sector, stressing that the department will be the biggest supporter of investors to improve the business environment in the country, within the government directives of the Prime Minister regarding attracting local and foreign investment.
Hanoun pointed out that measures have been taken to provide global services using digital transformation, including opening a window to inquire about companies established and registered with the department, with the aim of documenting the legal data of those wishing to deal with these companies, in addition to opening another window with the Kurdistan Region representation for the purpose of sending e-mail to save time and effort in completing work, and providing services to businessmen through an electronic form provided that they have a businessman identity as a founder or branch manager, for the purpose of establishing an Iraqi company, and thus issuing a certificate of establishment within 24 hours.
He pointed out that 82,000 local and foreign companies have been registered during the past period, in addition to evaluating, following up and auditing the work of companies by a specialized team in Baghdad and the governorates, and organizing secret visits to them due to the lack of special headquarters for some of them, or specifying their work.
He noted that urgent services have been provided to citizens (online) since the beginning of this year, with the exception of establishing companies, with another service available via the Telegram channel, which is publishing completed registration transactions, fine exemption decisions, and the possibility of withdrawing them for the purpose of shortening time and completing transactions, in addition to revealing the trade name of limited companies, and dealing with the establishment department employees for auditing and not going through the documentation and information department.
He stressed that companies are not required to renew the certification of their documents, which have not been in effect for a year from the date of their establishment, and any citizen can pay the fees required to complete their transactions electronically.
