    FAO will hold a workshop to discuss food security in Iraq




    The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Iraq said Tuesday it held a workshop earlier this month to discuss food security in Iraq.
    A statement issued by the bureau said that the latter, in cooperation with the Regional Network for Food Security Information Analysis, conducted a training workshop on food security for members of the National Committee for Food Security in Iraq.
    "The workshop lasted for three days from 16 to 18 July 2017." The workshop focused on knowledge and promotion of food security concepts, the main approach, field survey tools and indicators to measure food insecurity in Iraq, Theoretical and practical exercises on national early warning systems and their implications for future capacity development needs ".
    For his part, said the representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Iraq, Fadel Zoubi, "The Committee is an advanced stage was adopted by the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers in February this year for discussion and recommend actions on how best to achieve food security at the national level."
    "The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) representative in Iraq is the main partner of the Ministry of Agriculture and we appreciate and appreciate its continued efforts to achieve an integrated food security system in Iraq.
