US Crude Oil Inventories Rise
US crude inventories rose last week, while gasoline inventories and distillates fell, according to data from the US Petroleum Institute on Wednesday.
Crude oil inventories rose 1.8 million barrels over the week ending July 28 to 488.8 million barrels, while analysts forecast a 3 million barrel drop.
Crude stocks at the delivery point in Kashing, Oklahoma, increased 2.6 million barrels.
Petroleum Institute figures showed crude oil consumption at refineries increased by 142,000 bpd.
Gasoline inventories fell 4.8 million barrels, the analyst said. A Reuters poll declined 636,000 barrels.
Distillate stocks, including diesel and heating oil, fell 1.2 million barrels, while expectations were for a drop of 525,000 barrels.
