Baghdad - Mawazine News
The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, warned strongly today, Friday, against any new targeting of Iraq or any infringement on its sovereignty and the unity of its people, calling for the development of strategic solutions and a timetable to end the electricity crisis in the country.
Al-Hakim said in his speech at the annual gathering on the occasion of the first of Muharram in Al-Khalani Square in central Baghdad, which was followed by Mawazine News, "You have been keen every year, over many years and under various circumstances, to hold this great Husseini gathering, old and young, men and women, from the farthest cities and governorates of our beloved Iraq, answering the call for support for Abu Abdullah Al-Hussein (peace be upon him) and his great reform project, a project that history has written with his pure blood, and generations have preserved in their minds and hearts. He was and still is a beacon that illuminates the path of reformers and free people everywhere."
He said, "The Husseini cause, the Husseini project, and the Husseini school teach us every day that they are principles that do not compromise at the expense of truth, do not compromise at the expense of dignity, and do not slacken in supporting the oppressed and reviving the landmarks of religion and noble Islamic and human values."
Al-Hakim explained that “Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) did not rise up to cause evil, arrogance, injustice, or corruption. Rather, he rose up and sacrificed himself, his family, and his companions for a noble goal, which was reform, establishing justice, and protecting the constants of religion that were violated by the ruling Umayyad clique at that time. Abu Abdullah Hussein was and still is an imam for those who rebelled against injustice and tyranny, a beacon of truth and dignity in the face of humiliation and disgrace, and a guide for those who follow the path of reform and guidance.”
He pointed out that "our local arena... and the regional and international events surrounding it... and what we are witnessing of Israeli aggression against our brothers in Palestine and Lebanon and what follows from that of targeting the security of our countries, requires us to indicate important and fateful points:
First/ We have overcome dangerous and major stages during more than two decades of time in restoring and refining the political process in Iraq... through which the Iraqis were able to establish a federal democratic system that is compatible with diversity The components that distinguish their country from other countries in the region.
He noted that "the Iraqis have been exposed to various types of security, economic, political and societal challenges.. but they were able, thanks to God and the wisdom of their wise authority and their patience, to overcome those challenges and achieve great victories and great accomplishments. It is no longer possible for any force or party to threaten the security of our country and the unity of our people.. and we will not allow Iraq to return to the square of disagreement and political conflict again.. We have taken a pledge to ourselves with the loyal national forces to move forward towards sustainable political stability in Iraq.. and not to allow any loophole to threaten this stability, which has become a basic pillar for any development and reconstruction in the country."
He added, "We will not be lenient in realizing the dream of our youth to have a free and dignified life. We will not be lenient in the security of our country and the reassurance of our people, in building a safe and prosperous future that befits them and their status among peoples. We will not be lenient in preserving every inch of the sovereignty of our lands and waters under all circumstances. Anyone who seeks or thinks of targeting Iraq again will find men who do not fear death and do not weaken in the face of threats. His end will be at the hands of Husseini men who see martyrdom as an honor, dignity, and victory. We are the sons of a school whose motto is {Killing is a habit for us.. and our dignity from God is martyrdom}.
He continued, "We say it in the face of anyone who wants to tamper with the security of our country and the future of our youth.. (Humiliation is far from us.. far from "From us humiliation), Iraq has chosen the path of peace and stability and will not allow itself to be a source of threat to others. It will not allow its sovereignty and the interests of its people to be affected, and will not be indulgent at the expense of that, no matter what the cost."
He continued by saying, "We have announced from the beginning our support for the government of the Sudanese Prime Minister in moving towards stability in the country and creating a real revolution towards reconstruction and development. We continue to support all good efforts towards achieving this goal," noting that "our people are still suffering from the electricity crisis, the scarcity of drinking water, and the exacerbation of the scourge of drugs among Our youth... and the increasing risk of unemployment among graduates, and we must cooperate to address these crises radically... and set a time frame to get rid of them... and the first of them is the electricity crisis."
He said, "Yes... there is improvement in some areas... and there are future mechanisms for the required treatment... but the crisis still exists and the risk of its exacerbation still threatens solutions radically." He stressed, "We must stop wasting associated gas in our oil fields and the relevant authorities must expedite the exploration of gas fields and invest them in generating electricity, as what Iraq needs is much more than what it produces today."
Al-Hakim noted that "for two decades we have been talking about the poor transmission networks, the poor distribution of electrical energy, the increase in loads, the failure in collecting electricity, and other obstacles and problems that must be confronted with practical and realistic solutions that have strategic feasibility. Temporary solutions make them intractable to a radical solution."
He called on "all political forces and societal sectors to support the government in declaring a state of strategic alert to address the electricity crisis in a radical and final manner... and that the matter does not stop with the current government only... but rather continues until this ongoing stifling crisis is eliminated... I also call on societal sectors to support this... because the electricity problem is complex and multifaceted and does not stop with one party."
He stressed, "We will work hard with the government to set a clear and realistic time frame to announce the end of the stifling electricity crisis... which has negatively affected all economic, agricultural, industrial and service sectors... in addition to the development and reconstruction movement in the country. We must work to bring Iraq to the stage of self-sufficiency, God willing... for that is not impossible for the Iraqis' determination, sincerity and creativity in work and confrontation."
Secondly, our Arab and Islamic region is witnessing major changes in all fields. The events and developments it has witnessed over the past decades have achieved a qualitative shift in thought, awareness and the extraction of effective experiences. Today, we are faced with great and tremendous strategic opportunities for the Arab and Islamic nation to reunite once again. This unity should be under the title of permanent cooperation to achieve common interests in the economy, energy, technological and cognitive development.
He explained, “This requires reactivating the role of The League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and other specialized institutions and organizations... through activating strategies of construction and joint cooperation in preserving the interests of peoples and removing the specter of tension and disagreement from the region... and moving it to permanent interests and common benefits. Opportunities must not be wasted or lost because that represents a danger to the security of our countries and a threat to the interests of our peoples."
Al-Hakim called on "Arabs and Muslims to take the initiative with us in Iraq towards a framework of unity and cohesion and building the future away from the complexities and harbingers of the past... goodness is coming as long as we are united by one religion and a common destiny."
He warned that "the Israeli danger to our Arab and Islamic nation still exists and the Zionist entity still thinks with a mentality of genocide and hostility towards Arabs and Muslims. It was not satisfied with its brutal aggression on Gaza. Rather, it has begun to threaten a comprehensive war on brotherly Lebanon. It does not take into account any international or humanitarian law in this. Rather, it disregards all norms, values and peoples."
He stressed that "confronting this danger requires our unity and cohesion as Arabs and Muslims... Iraq has been and will remain at the forefront of this confrontation and will not abandon its sacred defense of Arab and Islamic Palestine as long as there is a vein in us that pulsates with the love of Al-Hussein (peace be upon him)."
