    The Parliamentary Electricity and Energy Committee confirmed, today, Thursday (July 4, 2024), its readiness for a series of hosting events over the next two days to follow up on the "ignorance" of generator owners of the official pricing, and the procrastination of the concerned authorities in following up on it.
    Committee member Dahel Radhi told Baghdad Today, "There is exploitation and greed by the owners of private generators in Baghdad by manipulating the price of the ampere and raising it significantly and multiples of the official price, and this is a violation punishable by law  ."
    Radhi said, "The Parliamentary Electricity Committee will work during the next two days to host a number of bodies responsible for the operation of private generators, whether they are the executive and governmental oversight bodies, as well as the security bodies responsible for following up on those violating the pricing. It is necessary to stop exploiting people's suffering in this scorching summer with the decline in the supply of electrical energy  ."
    Baghdad Governorate set the price of the golden ampere at 12 thousand dinars for the months of July and August, but the residents of Baghdad areas, especially in the Karkh side, confirmed that the generator owners collected money from them according to a price of 20 to 22 thousand dinars per ampere, while in the Rusafa side it reached between 14 and 16 thousand dinars per ampere, in a clear challenge to the decisions of the government agencies in this regard until the issue of the price turned into a "sarcastic joke."
