Experts: The names of new candidates for the Electoral Commission under the presidency of Parliament
The parliamentary committee of experts in charge of selecting new candidates for the election commission announced on Sunday that it has officially handed over the candidates to the presidency of the House of Representatives, which will determine the date of voting session after the Eid holiday.
The Committee's Rapporteur Zana Said in a press statement to the «Journal News» that "the Committee of Experts handed the Presidency of the Parliament a full report on the 36 candidates with the scheduling of the ratings obtained by them, to fill the membership of the Board of Commissioners in the new Electoral Commission," noting that " Parliament has become officially responsible for the file of candidates, and will determine when the names will be put to vote soon. "
He added that "the list of candidates that have been selected directly handed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives Salim al-Jubouri, and the precise names are to be ratified by the House of Representatives in the voting session after Eid al-Adha, and other than this is currently only leaks," noting that "the list of candidates irrelevant to the report of the Committee of Experts Which was supposed to be discussed on the agenda last week did not get approval of the degree. "
He added that "the deputies asked not to include the report of the work of the Committee of Experts on the agenda of the meeting to oppose the work," noting that "verbal quarrels and clashes with hands occurred between supporters of the Committee and the opponents who proposed the formation of a committee of judges to complete the election procedures."
The House of Representatives rejected last week, the request of the Committee of Parliamentary Experts to select the members of the Electoral Commission, to read its final report on the agenda of the meeting, followed by a verbal argument between the deputies ended the expulsion of MP Ali Sheikh Ali and registration absent from the session.
