    It has begun.

Spring is gone. Summer is almost over. My Nest has kicked on my furnace throughout the night. Winter is coming and I couldn’t be happier. Hockey season is back.

Today the Montreal Canadiens unveiled their September plans today informing us all that hockey will soon be back in full swing. The Canadiens Rookie Camp, starting September 7th through 13th, will feature 23 players who will give us glimpse into the future of the hockey club.

Players invited are: Jeremiah Addison (LW), Alexandre Alain (C), Daniel Audette (C), William Bitten (RW), Jordan Boucher (LW), Simon Bourque (D), Josh Brook (D), Thomas Ebbing (C), Cale Fluery (D), Maxime Fortier (RW), Alexandre Goulet (C), Noah Juusen (D), Stefan Leblanc (D), McEwan (C), Victor Mete (D), Niki Petti (C), Michael Pezzetta (LW), Martin Reway (LW), Jarret Tyszka (D), Antoine Waked (RW), Scott Walford (D), Michael McNiven (G), Antoine Samuel (G).

Names to watch out this group are: Addison, Bitten, Bourque, Brook, Fluery, Juulsen, Mete, Reway, Waked, and McNiven. Clearly, some of these names jump out more than others, but in my opinion all these players should be on Habs fans radars.

During this camp the Canadiens will ice a squad in the Rookie Tournament in Toronto from September 8th through 10th. These are always a good opportunity to see who separates themselves from the pack and gives a clearer indication who could steal a spot (or two) on the Canadiens roster come October.

The only discouraging part of this process is knowing that the Laval Rocket coaching staff, still led by Sylvain Lefebvre, will be running the games. I’m sure they are fantastic, experienced men but the performance and preparation of the farm team and players has been disappointing for Canadiens fans through the last few years. Lets hope this year yields better results.

The main training camp is now scheduled to begin Thursday, September 14th, 2017 at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard, QC and finish October 4th, 2017.

It’s finally happening folks. All the waiting is over and its almost time to see how the team will take shape over the next month before the Season Opener October 5th, 2017 in Buffalo. I personally can’t wait to see the season start. I’ll try to provide up to date, relevant information on a consistent basis for all of you here for the remainder of the season.

    Go Habs Go.

One last piece to note is the annual Montreal Canadiens’ Children’s Foundation Tournament set to take place September 11th, 2017 2017 at Club de golf Laval-sur-le-Lac. The shotgun start begins at 10:30 am.

Training Camp info and Schedule can be found on the Canadiens official website.
