Iran's representative to the United Nations, Ishaq al-Habib, said that Iran's missile program was not being negotiated and said the program was dedicated to defensive and deterrent purposes, and that missile ranges and accuracy were commensurate with the security environment and threats.
"Iran's missile program is defensive and non-negotiable, referring to the right of all countries to produce, import and own conventional weapons for legitimate defense and to ensure their security needs," said Al-Ishaq, Iran's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations.
He expressed concern about the growing military expenditures in the world and said that the phenomenon in the Middle East is more dangerous than other regions.
He said that nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction, as well as the arsenal of complex and offensive conventional weapons of the Zionist entity, continue to threaten regional peace and security, pointing to the security situation, which has become increasingly complicated in recent years.
He pointed out that one of the reasons for this situation is the increase in the military budget and the large import of weapons by some oil states in the Persian Gulf, pointing to the conclusion of a military deal worth 110 billion dollars by one of these countries with the United States during the current year, 350 billion dollars over a decade and said, that is just a tip of the iceberg of military expenditures and arms imports in this region.
In such circumstances, some countries are criticizing Iran for testing several missiles designed to carry conventional heads and match the security situation, he said.
"Iran's missile program is dedicated to ensuring the defense and security needs of the country. In such situations, we can not comment on this security without taking into consideration Iran's security environment," he said.
He pointed to the hostile policies of the United States and its regional allies, especially the Zionist entity, as well as the conclusion of deals worth hundreds of billions of dollars with the region, which turned into a barrel of powder and said: In such circumstances why Iran should delay its security needs.
He stressed that while each of America's allies in the region, whose total souls do not reach the same level as Iran, is monitoring military expenditures that exceed the costs of Iran, which has not counted on anyone during the past three centuries.
