Parliament abolishes the inspectors' offices and names the chief prosecutor

     Baghdad / Range

The House of Representatives, during its meeting yesterday, attended by 181 deputies, a preliminary decision to abolish the offices of public inspectors and the selection of the head of public prosecution, and the head of judicial supervision.
At the beginning of the session, headed by Salim al-Jubouri, the council voted on Mowaffaq Mahmoud al-Obeidi for the position of head of the prosecution, and Jassim Mohammed al-Amiri for the post of head of judicial supervision on the nomination of the Supreme Judicial Council.
The session included voting in principle to proceed with the proposed law of the House of Representatives and its formations submitted by the Legal and Financial Committees. The Council completed the vote in principle to proceed with the proposed abolition of the offices of the General Inspectors provided by the Legal Committee. The Council also completed the vote on a parliamentary resolution submitted by the Legal Committee to consider the area of Zawiya in the governorate of Salah al-Din as a disaster area.
The hearing was attended by Minister of Communications Hassan al-Rashed by MP Hoda Sajjad, who addressed a number of questions to the minister, including an inquiry regarding the reasons for the transfer of the Internet partnership contract from the General Internet Company to the two companies, Simfoni and Ertlenk. MP Hoda Sajjad questioned the recommendations of the study and analysis committee, which did not recommend referral to the company, and asked for the formation of a ministerial committee through which the assignment was made, pointing out that the company did not provide documents or certificates for doing similar work and approved.
In his response, Minister Hassan Al-Rashed confirmed that the referral and analysis committee examined three offers that were submitted. The company offered bids of 15%, 10% of Tigris and 12% of Al-Mersal. The first tender was chosen as the best technical and commercial. The government contracts have identified issues related to price negotiation. The Ministry of Planning's letter in 2014 indicates that contracts for private enterprise projects and self-financing are not subject to government directives, explaining that the increase in state imports is good and there is no chance to challenge any project that generates imports And that the Committee for Od unrelated to the duration of the contract, but prices, and the Integrity Commission and the Parliamentary Integrity Commission have conducted an investigation in this regard.
The president of the council then decided to complete the interrogation process in a hearing on Tuesday, immediately after the resumption of the hearing, to be lifted after the completion of the interrogation.
