US President Donald Trump said in a statement to Israel Hayom newspaper that Jerusalem has become "the capital of Israel, and there is no possibility of talking about it at the negotiating table," adding that Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states respect its decision.
Trump added that his administration's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was an important electoral promise and he succeeded in implementing it.
On December 6, 2017, the American president issued a resolution recognizing Jerusalem as both the capital of Israel and stressing that he "does not regret the decision at all."
He considered the decision on Jerusalem to be "the most important achievement during the first year of his rule in the White House."
"Jerusalem has become the capital of Israel and it is no longer possible to talk about it at the negotiating table," he said.
