     The Committee on Economic Affairs allocates 420 billion dinars for reconstruction and facing water scarcity

    The Economic Affairs Committee, in the Ministry of Industry, has decided to approve the inclusion of rehabilitation and maintenance projects for the Ministry of Water Resources within the investment budget tables and to provide the required allocations.
    "The Ministerial Economic Affairs Committee, chaired by Minister of Planning Dr. Salman Al-Jumaili, decided at its 17 th meeting of 2018 to approve the continued inclusion of special rehabilitation and maintenance projects," ministry spokesman Abdul-Zahra al-Hindawi said in a statement received by Al-Iktissad News. In the Ministry of Water Resources, within the budgets of the investment budget and provide the necessary allocations to them, amounting to 56 billion dinars.
    He pointed out that the projects "include Cree rivers and clearing tables and survey and improve the projects of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in order to support the efforts of the Ministry in addressing the scarcity of water."
    He added that "the Committee has taken a number of important decisions and recommendations relating to economic affairs," pointing out that "the Committee discussed the mechanisms and standards that have been adopted in the prioritization of reconstruction projects and the provision of services in the liberated provinces through coordination between the concerned authorities in the provinces."
    He noted that "the financial allocations for the provinces covered for the year 2018, amounted to 420 billion dinars, distributed by 180 billion dinars for the province of Nineveh and 100 billion dinars for the province of Anbar and 100 billion dinars to Salahaddin province," noting that "the rest of the amount divided between the provinces of Baghdad and Babylon and Tamim and Diyala."
    He explained that "these allocations are divided by 70% ؜ for investment projects and priority for the ongoing projects and have advanced completion rates and be of projects that serve stability, while 30% was allocated to new projects that contribute to support infrastructure and service.
    He stressed that "the Committee raised its recommendation to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers with a view to adopting the mechanisms and criteria for the implementation of projects in the provinces covered."
