On Thursday, the Minister of Migration and Displacement, Evan Faeq Jabro, announced that Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani had allocated 50 billion dinars for the reconstruction of Sinjar, while indicating that the return of the displaced from northern Iraq is an issue linked to the Kurdistan region and the rehabilitation of Sinjar.
Jabro said, in a statement to the official news agency, that "about 40,000 displaced persons are present in camps in northern Iraq," indicating that "the rest of the provinces do not have camps, except for the Psychological Rehabilitation Center in the city of Mosul, which is a transitional stage for any displaced person who returns from Al-Hol camp to be rehabilitated." In preparation for his return to his home region.
She explained, "The ministry is not concerned with the camps of the Kurdistan region as an administration, but it is a supportive body, as it provides them with relief materials and aid," noting that "the decision to return the displaced in northern Iraq is a matter for the Kurdistan region and is also linked to the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Sinjar."
She pointed out, "The camps for the displaced in Bzeibiz are random and are the results of past policies, as the ministry was surprised by the presence of displaced families, while the rest of the camps are all in northern Iraq."
She added, "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani has allocated 50 billion dinars for the reconstruction of Sinjar, which is the first step for the return of the displaced."
