(SANA) - Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohamed Halboussi received on Tuesday US Energy Secretary Rick Perry and his accompanying delegation. The meeting discussed relations between the two countries on the economic level and efforts to activate the strategic agreements.
The President of the House of Representatives said in a statement to the News Agency that Iraq, after a defeat, is calling for an important phase during which it will be a major workshop. There are strong efforts to attract international investments and start to offer investment opportunities to the world's business communities in all fields including energy, .
He explained that the House of Representatives will work hard to activate the Supreme Council for Reconstruction in the country, and continue to form during the current session as soon as he arrives from the government, pointing at the same time the need to give broader powers to the regions and governorates; to facilitate investment opportunities and stimulate the private sector, which will provide services and employment opportunities Which contribute to the elimination of unemployment.
Halabousi appreciated the position of the United States of America supporting Iraq, and welcomed the economic partnership with America, calling for the need to strengthen relations and develop them in the interest of the two peoples.
For his part, the US Secretary of Energy, his country's support for Iraq in all fields, and the willingness of US companies to contribute to support Iraq's reconstruction and development; to improve its economy and promote stability.
