Iran's ambassador to Baghdad, Iraj Masjedi, said on Monday that the United States is exerting heavy pressure on the Iraqi government to keep up with the Iranian embargo and the sanctions imposed on his country, pointing out that Iraqi officials have repeatedly stressed their failure to comply with the US embargo.
"Americana is exerting heavy pressure on the Iraqi government to keep up with the illegal and unilateral prohibitions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, but Iraqi officials have repeatedly stated that they are not in compliance with the US embargo and have not arrived," Masjedi was quoted as saying by the Fars News Agency. "In such circumstances, President Rohani's visit to Iraq is of special significance, meaning and understanding."
