    Baghdad Today - Erbil
Kurdistan Democratic Party member Wafa Mohammed Karim expressed his fears today, Sunday (October 6, 2024), of a conspiracy being hatched against his party during the upcoming elections in the Kurdistan Region.
Karim pointed out in a statement to "Baghdad Today" that "there are authoritarian parties in Baghdad that seek to balance Kurdish forces," warning against "attempts to make the Patriotic Union equal the Democratic Party in the number of seats."
He pointed out that "the parties are planning to create a balance in Kurdistan, citing the statements of the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Pavel Talabani, who confirmed that he received promises from the Coordination Framework to obtain seats in the Kurdistan Parliament."
Karim also explained that "the Patriotic Union won five seats out of 12 in the Kirkuk provincial council elections," describing this support as unreal, as it came from leaders of the framework such as Qais Khazali, Hadi al-Amiri, and Ryan al-Kildani," stressing "these parties' fear of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and their desire to undermine its existence."
The Kurdistan Region is preparing to hold the sixth elections to form a new government, which have been delayed for 3 years, while these elections will be governed by many political factors and variables that the Kurdistan Region has witnessed since the last elections held in 2018.
A frenzied campaign of polarization has begun in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq before the start of the propaganda campaigns for the parliamentary elections scheduled to be held on October 20, in a scene charged with escalating political discourse between the two ruling parties, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, led by Pavel Talabani, and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, led by Massoud Barzani.
