A senior political official revealed on Tuesday a parliamentary movement to open the amnesty law and laws that contained gaps.
"A parliamentary movement started by a number of deputies to open the files of the amnesty law and other laws, to re-examine them and overcome their gap," the official said.
He pointed out that "a number of deputies began to collect signatures to amend the amnesty law, because it includes serious loopholes threatening the community peace, because criminals and corrupt people were able to exploit the paragraphs to pay money and get rid of the legal consequences of their crimes."
The official said that "the movement will include a number of other laws that need to be modified," adding that "the problem is that the government did not amend these laws, despite the many claims to do so preceded the new mobility, as they give up the responsibility for this matter , Especially since the laws passed under the previous government, which means that its existence is a defect calculated on the latter, and a political gain for the current government.
He pointed out that "the movement is pushing for a legal dispute between the government and the parliament, because of the opposition of the government's direction with the parliamentary will to push for the amendment," stressing that "the amendment requires a consensus between the executive and legislative authorities, taking into account the public interest."
Some provisions of the amnesty law provide for the non-enforcement of sentences against convicts in the event that the convicted person has paid the financial obligations of the State or persons or obtained a waiver by the party against whom the case was brought.
