{Politics: Al Furat News} Member of Parliament Yasser Al Husseini revealed today, Friday, that there is political movement within the House of Representatives to decide the position of the president.
Al-Husseini told Al-Furat News Agency, "There is political movement within the House of Representatives to pressure the Sunni component to resolve the issue of naming the Speaker of the House of Representatives."
Al-Husseini ruled out, according to him, that "the parliamentary session would end without naming a parliament speaker."
On May 18, 2024, the House of Representatives failed to elect a speaker, with none of the candidates receiving a majority of votes during a tense session that saw a fierce competition between MPs Salem al-Issawi and Mahmoud al-Mashhadani.
