    Economy News - Baghdad
[rtl]Economic expert Alaa Al-Fahd confirmed today, Thursday, that there are no problems in the issue of Iraq paying the Iranian gas money.[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Fahd said in an interview followed by "Al-Eqtisad News", "There are trade relations between Iraq and Iran, especially in the issue of energy and gas, and the payment of gas dues is done regularly by the Iraqi government, and there are no problems in the payment issue, and this matter is done with the approval of the United States of America."[/rtl]
[rtl]He pointed out that "Iraq cannot, during the current stage, dispense with Iranian gas, the main operator of power generation stations in Iraq, and therefore matters are continuing normally regarding the sending of gas from Iran to Iraq as well as the payment of the money for this gas by Iraq, and trade relations are good between the two countries in various files."[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Fahd added, "There is an agreement between Iraq and Iran regarding financial settlements, and payment is made in the local currency, especially since there is trade exchange between the two countries and there is cooperation in many fields and agreements in various commercial and economic aspects, and the trade and economic relationship between the two countries is very important to Baghdad and Tehran, and that is why it continues without any problems or obstacles."[/rtl]
[rtl]In March 2024, gas-rich Iraq signed an agreement with Iran to import 50 million cubic meters of gas per day over a period of 5 years. However, the aging of the infrastructure and geopolitical and security conditions are among the reasons for Iraq’s inability to benefit from gas at the present time.[/rtl]
