    Baghdad Today - Babylon
Member of Parliament, Thaer Al-Jubouri, revealed today, Friday (September 20, 2024), a parliamentary objection to the mechanism for selecting the names of those accepted for contract appointments in Babylon.
Al-Jubouri told Baghdad Today, "An objective reading of the mechanism for selecting the names of those accepted in Babylon contract appointments requires review and scrutiny to clarify the mechanisms for selecting names," expressing his "objection to the mechanism followed in selecting the names of those accepted in contract appointments, as it is noted that this mechanism lacks transparency and justice, and there is an increasing reliance on mediation and favoritism instead of adopting the criteria of competence and merit, which leads to the marginalization of young competencies who are waiting for real opportunities to work."
He added that he "demands the adoption of transparent and fair mechanisms in appointments, and the formation of independent committees to monitor the process, to ensure its integrity and reduce corruption and favoritism," indicating that "there are suspicions of corruption that accompanied these appointments that raise great concern, as reports appear of bribes and unfair operations in the distribution of contracts. This corruption harms the credibility of the state and increases the frustration of young people looking for job opportunities."
He pointed out that "some representatives demanded that the contracting procedures be suspended until the audit and verification of the information are completed."
It is noteworthy that Babylon Governorate announced, at the beginning of this week, the names of candidates nominated to contract with it to work in the governorate’s office.
