Outgoing Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi received a phone call from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Broado.
During the call, according to the statement of the Prime Minister's Information Office, "deliberations on developments in the region, avoiding escalation, bilateral relations and cooperation against terrorism" were discussed.
Abdul-Mahdi stressed that "Iraq is keen on strengthening relations between the two countries and continuing cooperation against terrorism."
On the regional crisis, the Prime Minister outlined "the position of Iraq and its endeavor to remove military tensions and conflicts from the region and avoid its danger and focus efforts on combating ISIS, along with the decision to withdraw foreign forces from Iraq."
The Canadian Prime Minister expressed his country's aspiration to continue bilateral cooperation and unite efforts against terrorism, stressing the need to stop the repercussions of the current crisis and end tensions and work to calm and not to expose the region and the world to the dangers of war.
