OIL DEVELOPS A NEW PLAN TO INVEST GAS FIELDS IN IRAQ

Wednesday, April 28, 2021 3:36 PM

Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Oil revealed its plan to exploit the gas associated with oil and gas operations, which is located in the ground, "free gas".
A spokesman for the Ministry of Oil, Assem Jihad, said in a statement to the "National News Center" that the ministry is seeking to invest three fields of "free dry gas", the first of which is the Mansouriya field, the crutch field, and the Seiba field, stressing that "these fields were referred to international companies, but entering ISIS in 2014 prevented its investment at that time.
Jihad stated that "the ministry has now returned to offering these fields as an investment, as a Chinese company obtained an investment license to develop the Mansouriya field in Diyala, which would hopefully produce 300 million standard cubic meters per day, which would supply Iraq's stations with gas," revealing an "investment opportunity." Close to crutches field in the western region.
As for the liquid gas associated with oil extraction, Jihad indicated that "the ministry has been working to export surplus liquid gas to some neighboring countries for years, in addition to supplying power stations," indicating that "the establishment of the Basra Gas Company has developed a lot in the gas fields, where daily production has reached 1,000 million standard cubic feet per day. ”
Jihad stressed that "the ministry is now seeking to invest gas fields in the governorates of Dhi Qar and Maysan, with a daily production capacity of 500 million standard cubic feet."
And on the continued import of gas from abroad in light of this gas investment, Jihad said, "The growing population and the increase in electrical stations make it imperative for Iraq to continue importing dry gas from foreign countries."
