, Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, confirmed, on Tuesday, that a Turkish delegation will arrive soon to discuss the details of the protocol related to the Tigris River, while revealing its mandate by the Syrian side to manage negotiations with Turkey.
Al-Hamdani said in a television interview followed by Mawazine News, "The ministry's actions were multiple during this short period of the government's life, during which it managed to achieve more than one meeting at the technical level with the Turkish and Syrian sides, and we are still waiting for the Iranian side, which has not yet appeared cooperation in achieving the meeting in order to discuss water quotas.
He added that "there are understandings with Turkey, and a Turkish delegation will come to Iraq soon to discuss the details of the protocol related to the Tigris River," noting that "there are quantities that will be agreed upon to guarantee Iraq's water rights from the Tigris River, as well as a joint research center that will be established where we have completed its infrastructure in The complex of research centers in the ministry, which will be joint, where we invited all countries to participate, whether the international community or organizations, especially Syria and Iran, as this research center will give a clear picture of the nature of the water relationship between the riparian countries, whether Iraq, Syria or Iran.
