    Today, Wednesday, Iraq issued a new invitation to Turkey to address the water issue.
    The office of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Bashir Al-Haddad, said in a statement received by the "National News Center", that the latter "received today, the new Turkish ambassador to Baghdad, Ali Reza Günay."

    The statement added, "The meeting, which was attended by Deputy Dhafer Al-Ani, Chairman of the Iraqi-Turkish Friendship Committee, and Deputy Muhammad Amin Faris, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Water and Marshlands, during which they discussed topics and issues of common interest, foremost of which are ways to enhance prospects for cooperation and develop bilateral relations to serve common interests." between the two neighboring countries.
    For his part, the Vice-President of the Council, “congratulations and blessings to the ambassador on the occasion of assuming the duties of his new job, wishing him a pleasant stay and success in carrying out his work.”
    Al-Haddad pointed to “the importance of addressing the water file, securing Iraq’s share of water and activating agreements and treaties between the two sides, especially there are historical relations between Iraq and Turkey and common cultural, historical and religious ties between the two peoples,” stressing “Iraq’s aspiration to strengthen those relations at all levels and encourage investment for companies.” Turkey and benefit from experiences in the reconstruction of the liberated areas and southern Iraq, and activate the work of the Supreme Council for Strategic Cooperation.

    The statement explained that "the two sides discussed the issue of military operations in the border areas and the need to protect civilians, and the issue of land leveling and cutting down trees in border villages."
    In turn, the Turkish ambassador expressed his happiness with this meeting "to discuss important files and issues between the two countries, while conveying the greetings of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan."
    The Turkish ambassador affirmed his country's keenness to "strengthen bilateral relations and the Turkish government's readiness to raise the level of cooperation in the economic and security fields to enhance stability in Iraq and to address files between the two sides, including the water file."
