[size=52][size=45]The Parliamentary Strategic Planning and Government Program Monitoring Committee, headed by Hazem Al-Khalidi, hosted the Minister of Agriculture, Muhammad Karim Al-Khafaji, and the advanced cadre of the ministry to discuss the implementation of the ministerial curriculum as part of the committee’s endeavor to issue the second assessment of the current government.[/size][/size]
[size=45]During the hosting, Al-Khalidi stressed the need to review all previous contracts of the Ministry of Agriculture and refer the suspicious contracts to the competent authorities, pointing out the importance of administrative reform in all the joints of the ministry and granting positions based on a periodic evaluation of the qualified and professionals.
He stressed the importance of raising the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture to contribute to achieving food security and submitting amendments or projects to laws for developing and activating agriculture in Iraq.
Al-Khalidi criticized the absence of the federal government's control over some border crossings, which leads to the loss of efforts to protect the local product and the end of efforts to achieve food security, calling for the necessity of imposing control over all ports and closing unofficial ones.
The head of the Government Program Monitoring Committee also pointed out the almost absence of agricultural loans that support the work of farmers, in addition to the delay in paying farmers' dues for long periods, which pushes this segment to retire from agriculture and neglect and reclaim land.
Al-Khalidi called on the Minister of Agriculture to take urgent action to end the file of bulldozing orchards and agricultural lands and converting them to commercial, as well as protecting the Iraqi palm, stressing the need to support veterinary hospitals and protect livestock in the country.[/size]
