{Economic: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Planning revealed a decrease in poverty rates in Iraq during this year 2021.
Ministry spokesman Abdul-Zahra Al-Hindawi said in a press statement, "The poverty rate was 20% in 2019, while it increased in 2020 due to the Corona pandemic and its economic repercussions, to reach approximately 31%, but this percentage decreased during the current year to below the 30%, and this is due to the rise in oil prices and the return of life to normal in one way or another," as he put it.
Al-Hindawi expected, "The percentage will decrease during the end of this year and next year to lower rates as a result of the improvement in the economic situation in the country and the resumption of many projects, as well as the presence of the private sector and some good economic activities."
