{Political: Al Furat News} The Iranian ambassador to Baghdad, Iraj Masjedi, revealed that the commander of the Quds Force in the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps in Iran, Brigadier General Ismail Qaani, affirmed during his meeting with the Iraqi parties Iran’s support for the legal path on the issue of the parliamentary elections that were held on October 10 last, and called on all Iraqis to calm and cooperate.
Masjedi said in a press statement, "Brigadier Qaani stressed the need for objections and appeals to the results of the recent parliamentary elections to be carried out within the framework of the law, and during his meetings with the Iraqi parties, he called everyone for calm and cooperation."
He added, "The Brigadier General Qaani called on Iraqi officials to discuss the challenges in the elections and decide them within the framework of the law, stressing Iran's support for the legal process on the issue of elections and announcing their results."
Masjedi pointed out that Qaani "stressed the need to respect the final results of the elections that will be announced by the Electoral Commission and official institutions in Iraq."
Brigadier General Qaani had arrived in Baghdad, where he met the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi and some Iraqi parties.
Masjedi called on opponents of the elections to cooperate after the final results were announced.
The Iranian ambassador "strongly condemned the targeting of the home of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi.
He stressed that "Brigadier General Qaani stressed the importance of conducting a thorough investigation into all technical aspects of the attack on the Prime Minister's house and punishing the perpetrators in accordance with the law, after announcing the results of the investigative committee."
The Iranian ambassador added, "We stress the need to investigate all dimensions of the crime and not to pre-empt events before announcing the results of the investigation, and we do not have any red line and any party that proves its involvement in the attack on the Prime Minister's house will be punished according to the Iraqi judiciary."
He stressed that "Brigadier General Qaani affirmed frankly, transparently and unequivocally that those involved, whoever they are, will be punished according to Iraqi law."
