The Minister of Finance says that a devaluation of the dollar is "not out of the question" at the moment.

Erbil (Kurdistan 24) - Dollar prices in Iraq recorded a noticeable decline today, Saturday, due to reports related to statements attributed to Finance Minister Ali Allawi.
The price of the dollar ranged between 147,500 and 14,800 thousand dinars, but the decline amounted to 146,500 once in most Iraqi markets.
This decline comes before a meeting of the Iraqi parliament, in which it is supposed to host Finance Minister Ali Allawi and the Governor of the Central Bank to discuss the exchange rate.
There was little change in the exchange rate in the Kurdistan Region.
Currency traders say that the decline in the exchange rate is mainly due to the "massive rumors" that emerged after statements attributed to the Minister of Finance in which he refused to meet with Parliament.
Kurdistan 24 was not able to reach the minister for comment.

Rumors often contribute to creating confusion in the markets, especially those related to alleged moves to restore the exchange rate to its previous state.
The Minister of Finance says that a devaluation of the dollar at the present time "is out of the question".
The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, had issued a set of proposals regarding the exchange rate, including "summoning" the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Central Bank.
As a result, the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hakim al-Zamili, a leader in the Sadrist movement, submitted a request to summon the two officials to Parliament.
And according to what was attributed to Allawi, he refuses to meet the request because it is outside the powers of Al-Zamili.
