The Kurdistan government called, on Wednesday, for the formation of an international committee that includes (the United Nations, the Arab League and Iran) to investigate the facts of the Israeli presence in the region.
And the media of the regional government said, in a statement received by Mawazine News, a copy of it, that the Kurdistan Regional Council of Ministers held its weekly meeting today, headed by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, and discussed the files on its agenda.
The first paragraph of the agenda was devoted to commemorating the thirty-fourth anniversary of the genocide with chemical weapons in Halabja, and Cabinet Secretary Amanj Rahim presented a number of proposals and demands related to Halabja Governorate, related to the completion of the administrative structure of the governorate, filling the needs of staff, appointments in public departments and directorates, the governorate budget, public service projects and projects Reconstruction of Halabja and the formation of the provincial council.
The proposals also included granting privacy to the governorate in terms of administrative and financial terms, as it is a new governorate, in addition to the file of DNA tests for missing children, and other requirements and proposals submitted by the Governor of Halabja to the Council of Ministers.
The Council of Ministers stressed the need to serve Halabja as a duty of the government and in a manner befitting the governorate, and reiterated that the Kurdistan Regional Government is indebted to the families of the martyrs of Halabja and other martyrs of Kurdistan, and indicated that serving Halabja and its people is at the heart of the government’s priorities.
After deliberation and discussion, the Council of Ministers decided to form a committee representing the relevant ministries to expedite the follow-up and implementation of the paragraphs contained in the memorandum in order to provide the best services to Halabja governorate and its people, taking into account the specificity of the governorate. The Council of Ministers also affirmed that the Iraqi government bears moral and constitutional responsibility towards the families of the martyrs The injured and those affected by the chemical attack against Halabja and all the victims of the genocide of the people of Kurdistan, as well as the damage caused to the rest of the Kurdistan regions, according to Article 132 of the Constitution, a declared responsibility of the federal authorities.
In the second paragraph of the meeting’s agenda, they discussed the missile attack on the residential areas of Erbil citizens at dawn on the 13th of this month, in addition to the Federal Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation inspecting the affected sites.
The Prime Minister indicated that the attack represented an attack on the lives and security of the citizens of the Kurdistan region and the sovereignty of Iraq, and that Iraq and the international community should put an end to such attacks and violations against the citizens of the region and Iraq.
The Prime Minister clarified that the accusations and slander against Kurdistan are baseless and far from the truth. On behalf of the Council of Ministers, he reiterated his strong condemnation of the attack and assault on the citizens of Erbil. The Council of Ministers also called for the formation of an international committee composed of representatives of the United Nations, the League of Arab States and the Islamic Republic. Iran, Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to investigate the facts and reject the accusations.
As for the third paragraph of the agenda, the Council of Ministers decided to direct the ministries and departments of the Kurdistan Regional Government to be more responsible from now on responding and solving the problems of the citizens of the region and meeting their requirements and addressing their complaints, according to the privacy of each ministry within the framework of its duties, powers and responsibilities as it is the responsibility of the ministries and not Only the Council of Ministers, provided that the ministries present their plans to give them the necessary powers and proceed with the mechanism of performing their tasks in the required manner and more effectively starting now, in order to meet the demands and needs of citizens through the directorates and departments of ministries in the governorate and independent departments and not to limit the powers to the offices of ministries.
