On Sunday, the Zakho Tourism Department in the Kurdistan Region announced that it received more than 15,000 tourists, including 3,000 foreigners, during the Nowruz holidays, which means that 20% of the tourists to Zakho during Nowruz were foreigners.
Jia Amin, Director of Zakho Tourism, said in a press conference, "5,120 tourists from central and southern and 6,811 tourists from within the Kurdistan Region, in addition to 3,510 tourists from outside the region through Ibrahim Al-Khalil port flocked to the tourist sites in Zakho during the Nowruz holidays."
He added, "The total number of tourists who flocked to the independent administration in Zakho reached 15,441 from 3/18/2022 to 3/28/2022, in a good indicator for the development of the tourism sector in Zakho."
