Leader of the Azm Alliance, Fares Al-Fares, confirmed on Tuesday that the Azm and Sovereignty Alliances still maintain their position of supporting MP Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Al-Fares said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, "The decision taken by the Azm and Sovereignty Alliances to support MP Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives is still in place and there has been no reversal of the decision so far."
He added, "The continued stability of the two alliances with Al-Mashhadani's support will facilitate the exit from the crisis of nominating a single candidate for the position of Parliament Speaker."
He pointed out that "supporting Al-Mashhadani is an embarrassment to the Progress Alliance headed by Mohammed Al-Halbousi," suggesting that "a session to elect the Speaker of Parliament will be held after the completion of the Arbaeen visit."
It is noteworthy that the differences between the Sunni forces have been ongoing for months regarding determining the identity of a consensus candidate for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives, considering it a component entitlement. End/25m
