    Director General of the Iraqi Railways, Younis Al-Kaabi, confirmed on Monday that the completed percentages are 100 percent for the initial designs of the railway and 75 percent for the expressway, indicating that all international companies that will implement the project will be subject to evaluation.
    Al-Kaabi said in a televised interview followed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that it is hoped that next month we will complete all the initial designs for the road and railway, and thus we will move to the stage of detailed designs in mid-2025 and the completion of the final designs and we will move to the stage of announcing tenders and starting to implement this giant project and the initial designs include tracks, stations and logistical sites.
    He added that the consulting company's contract includes supervising the evaluation of international companies that will implement the development road, the expressway and the railway because the specifications set for this project are among the highest international specifications and we are talking about the technology of 2030 in implementation, so there will be an evaluation of the companies, indicating that there are desires from all international companies to participate in implementing such a global project.
    He explained that such giant projects will be managed by specialized companies because it is linked to the global trade movement as well as the Iraqi ports that will witness a qualitative leap with the opening of the Faw Port in mid-2025. Therefore, we will have two giant ports, Umm Qasr Port and the Grand Faw Port, which will be linked to the global trade movement.
    He pointed out that within the design of the designing company, the project is divided into 15 sections from the Faw Port to the Iraqi-Turkish border. Perhaps each company will be given a section of these sections to implement, but within one specification, thus giving flexibility in choosing distinguished companies to implement such a project and implementing it in record time within a period not exceeding four years. Therefore, we will not rely on one company, but rather implementation by several companies.
