    On Saturday, the “Extension” parliamentary movement, emanating from the Tishreen movement, confirmed that independents have an opportunity to form a large coalition away from the parties, and increase their influence within the Iraqi parliament.
    The movement’s spokesman, Manar al-Obeidi, said, “The independents have a great opportunity to form a coalition that transcends all differences, the goal of which is to form a bloc away from the parties, increase their influence within the parliament, and play the role of the real opposition.”
    Al-Obaidi added, "Anyone who says independents have become under the tent of parties does not understand anything about politics," noting at the same time that "the problem of independents lies in the absence of vision and leadership."
