Independent MP Sajjad Salem considered, on Saturday, resorting to dissolving parliament as a way to achieve change, but stressed the need to accomplish a number of changes before that, including amending the constitution, activating the parties' law, and dissolving factions that carry weapons outside the framework of the state.
Salem said in an interview with the official "Al-Sabah" newspaper, which was followed by Mawazine News, that "the current crisis has two definitions, either it is a conflict between the coordination framework and the Sadrist movement, which is a reduced concept, and the more mature definition is that it is a national crisis, a crisis of governance, a constitution and accumulations since 2003 until now." Therefore, it is a comprehensive national crisis."
He added, "The comprehensive national crisis needs radical and not superficial solutions. For example, resorting to dissolving parliament is a way to achieve change, but before it a number of changes must be accomplished, at the beginning of which is the amendment of the constitution and the political system and the activation of the parties' law, which is the most important issue, as well as dissolving all the factions that Carrying arms outside the framework of the state.
He continued, "The fear within society has reached its climax from the forces that openly threaten the use of arms and threaten the state, and on any occasion it may resort to arms, so either we develop radical, comprehensive and real solutions, or resort to superficial solutions that reproduce traditional forces."
He considered, "The solution currently proposed by the Sadrist movement is not a comprehensive solution (in reference to the call to dissolve parliament and hold early elections), and there must be a promising and radical vision for comprehensive solutions to the crisis rooted in the political process."
