Japanese Ambassador to Iraq Matusumoto Futoshi confirmed on Saturday that Japan encourages its companies to partner and provide services for development in Iraq, while pointing out that Japanese loans have completed more than 30 projects in Iraq over 20 years.
Futoshi said, “There are several Japanese companies thinking of entering the Iraqi market, and therefore we at the embassy encourage entering into partnerships with Iraqi companies.”
He pointed out that "well-known Japanese companies such as Suzuki cars and other Japanese brands are trying to enter into partnerships with Iraqi companies."
He added, "There is a company that produces construction machines, which is one of the largest international companies, that came to Baghdad to discuss the possibility of partnership with Iraq, in addition to the Foya brand that manufactures eyeglasses, which is currently widespread in Iraq and has a large market, and also (Fujifil) that produces medical materials, and there is a need to import Japanese medical devices, and these trends are very positive."
He added, "Japanese loans have completed more than 30 projects over 20 years. They are huge and easy, with simple interest rates of 0.2% for a period of 10 years. These projects provide a great service to development in Iraq, including energy, water, and refinery projects."
