Maintenance of gas pipelines in Iran causes Iraq to lose 2500 megawatts of electricity
Shafaq News / The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity noted, on Sunday, the maintenance of the gas pipeline network in Iran, stressing that it caused Iraq to lose 2500 megawatts of electricity.
The ministry stated, in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that "the Iranian side requested to carry out necessary and programmed maintenance work for the gas pipeline network for the central region, within their lands, (for the period from October 10-15, 2022)."
She added that "this matter will cause a loss of generating capacity of about 2500 megawatts throughout the national system, due to the cessation of pumping the supplied gas, which in turn will determine the energies produced from electricity, and will affect a small part on the hours of supplying citizens with electricity in Baghdad and the central regions for the period referred to above."
Two days ago, the Ministry of Electricity announced that Baghdad had turned off electricity for 6 hours due to a "hole" in the Iranian gas pipeline.
