Today, Wednesday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani approved the termination of the contract concluded with the Canadian company (Bizins lntel) for the security protection of Baghdad International Airport.
The Civil Aviation Authority stated in a statement that “as a result of the large number of appeals from members of the House of Representatives and the indication of some negative observations from several oversight authorities against the security company contracting to protect Baghdad International Airport, and in light of these appeals, the Prime Minister directed the formation of an investigative committee to follow up on procedures and violations related to the subject of contracting under Diwani Order 22119 dated 6/11/2022 between the Civil Aviation Authority and the aforementioned company.
The statement added, “The committee recommended that there be several breaches in the contract concluded with it, especially with regard to its failure to obtain a license to practice the profession issued by the Ministry of Interior in accordance with the provisions of Security Companies Law No. 52 of 2017.”
And he explained, “The authority reserves its right, in accordance with the provisions of the law, to resort to the judiciary in the event of damage or consequences affecting it as a result of that contract.”
