Iraq and Switzerland are discussing developing bilateral relations and reopening the Swiss embassy in Baghdad

[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / Dr. Hisham Al-Alawi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Planning Affairs, met with Maya Tsafi, Assistant Foreign Minister and Head of the Middle East and North Africa Department, in the Swiss Confederation Office for Foreign Affairs, at the headquarters of the Swiss Federal Building in Bern, and in the presence of the Charge d'Affaires ai Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Berne, Muhammad Jawad Mahdi.
The two sides discussed, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, practical steps to develop bilateral relations and ways to improve them in various fields, and discussed common visions regarding the promotion and protection of human rights, migration issues and humanitarian aid, as well as addressing current regional and international issues, and Iraq's role in promoting stability at the regional level.
The Undersecretary expressed his aspiration to continue joint work to strengthen bilateral relations between Iraq and Switzerland by holding the second round of political consultations in Baghdad in the middle of this year.He urged the Swiss side to work to reopen the Swiss embassy in Baghdad, pointing to Iraq's interest in relations with Switzerland, and his endeavor to strengthen them in various fields, especially in the economic field, stressing that Iraq encourages foreign investment in Iraq, especially by Swiss companies.
