    Earth News / Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein received German Foreign Minister Analina Baerbock, today, Tuesday, at the ministry's building in Baghdad, stressing that Baghdad and Erbil are working to find consensus on the oil and gas law and the federal budget.
    The minister welcomed, according to a statement by the ministry and received by Earth News, “Germany's positions in support of Iraq, especially in the fight against the terrorist organization ISIS, and thanked the German government for the adoption by the German parliament on 19/1/2023 of a decision considering what happened to the Yazidis in Sinjar as a crime of genocide (Genocide Declaration), as well as thanks Germany for the humanitarian aid and development projects it provides in many Iraqi governorates.”
    And the minister indicated the Iraqi government’s keenness to “strengthen the foundations, principles and values ​​of democracy in Iraq,” noting that “the Iraqi constitution of 2005 provides protection against discrimination and guarantees equal treatment for all Iraqis.”
    The minister said that "the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government are working to find consensus on the oil and gas law and the federal budget for the purpose of approving it in the near future."

    During the meeting, they also discussed the outcomes of the successful visit that Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’a al-Sudani conducted to Berlin, which resulted in the realization of the joint German-Iraqi action program, which lays down a roadmap for cooperation in promoting and strengthening bilateral relations that serve the interests of the two friendly countries. Germany extended its full support to contribute to rebuilding infrastructure and creating partnerships with Iraq through the work of German companies to develop and support the economic sector, as well as helping Iraq fight corruption and confront the effects of climate change.”
    The minister requested the assistance of the German side to “provide programs to train and rehabilitate the internally displaced for the purpose of their reintegration and to help them establish small projects that contribute to opening up future horizons for them to encourage them to return to their areas.”
    The two sides also discussed "regional and international developments of concern and Iraq's prominent role in resolving conflicts between the countries of the region by holding bilateral dialogues between the parties to the conflict to settle differences through diplomacy."

    For her part, the Federal Foreign Minister of Germany appreciated the "relentless efforts of the Iraqi government at the internal and external levels," expressing her "congratulations on Iraq's return to exercising its important role regionally and internationally."
