On Wednesday, economist Nabil Al-Marsoumi stressed the application of the new salary scale during the coming period.
Al-Marsoumi said in a post on Facebook: "If the application of the salary scale requires adding financial allocations amounting to 11 trillion dinars to the budget that is already burdened with deficits and debts, then this means that the salary scale will not be approved, neither this year nor in the coming years."
He stressed that the salary scale will be applied "unless the price of a barrel of oil rises to more than $100 or the exchange rate of the dollar is raised to 2,000 dinars," noting that "otherwise, it is either general anesthesia or economic suicide."
