The Ministerial Council of Economy decided, on Monday, to stop importing 9 agricultural crops due to their local availability.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahaf said in a statement, which Mawazine News received a copy of, that "Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein chaired today the fifteenth session of the Ministerial Council for Economy, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, the Ministers of Finance, Industry and Agriculture, and the Secretary-General of the Council." The ministers, the head of the National Investment Commission, the prime minister's advisors for economic and legal affairs, and the acting head of the Securities Commission," noting that "the council discussed the items on its agenda and took the appropriate decisions in their regard."
He added, "The council decided, at the request of the Ministry of Agriculture, to stop importing crops (tomatoes, potatoes, cucumbers, onions, trees, eggplant, watermelon, watermelon and okra) due to the abundance of local production in sufficient quantities to meet the needs of the local market and until further notice."
And he stated, “The council hosted the general managers of the Rafidain and Al-Rasheed banks and the director general of the administrative department in the National Investment Commission to listen to the obstacles and problems facing the progress of work in the Basmaya project and the borrowing and payment mechanisms for the beneficiaries of this project,” pointing out, “The final accounts of the Republic of Iraq were discussed.” for the year 2015 and recommended that it be submitted to the Council of Ministers.” Ended 29 / h
