The Ministry of Electricity has raised its level of preparations to face increased loads during the winter, as well as forming operating rooms and carrying out comprehensive maintenance of the stations.
The Ministry's official spokesman, Ahmed Al-Abadi, told Al-Sabah: The Ministry has drawn up its plan for preparing energy in the winter, and that the plan required holding intensive meetings and forming an operations room that included all energy sectors, including production, transmission, and distribution.
Al-Abadi added that the plan also included the entry of all units into comprehensive maintenance programs for stations and transmission lines to complete their readiness and qualification to receive peak winter loads, pointing to the development and installation of fixed and mobile stations.
The Ministry of Electricity spokesman concluded that the Ministry has designated hot numbers to receive citizens’ complaints in the event of any damage or if any overhead energy network is out of service.
For his part, Adnan Al-Jabri, a member of the Parliamentary Oil Committee, pointed out to “Al-Sabah” that through follow-ups with the Ministry of Electricity, there is a high readiness to receive the winter season without recording failures, noting that the Ministry’s measures to save energy during last summer were better than previous years, despite Although it is not at the desired level.
Al-Jabri pointed out that the entry into service of the production and conversion stations contributed to improving the provision of energy to the governorates, especially the southern ones, expecting that the winter season will also witness an improvement in the increase in processing hours and will be better than previous years.
For his part, energy expert Furat Al-Moussawi told Al-Sabah that Iraq's need for electrical energy in the summer is higher than in the winter, despite citizens resorting to using heaters, pointing out that one of the most prominent challenges facing electricity in the winter is Some aerial networks are out of service as a result of heavy rains and storms.
