    The Ministry of Transport announced today, Wednesday, the completion of soil investigation, topographic survey and railway line for the development road project, noting that the completion rate of the initial designs for the expressway has reached 75 percent.
    The ministry said in a statement received by "Al-Eqtisad News", "Based on the directives of the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, to expedite the finalization of the preliminary design phase of the development road project, the Iraqi General Railway Company announces the increase in the rates of completion in the preliminary design phase of the project," indicating that "the preliminary designs for the railway line, the topographic survey and soil investigation operations for the project have been completed by 100 percent."
    He added that "the completion rate of the initial designs for the expressway has reached 75 percent and its designs will be completed next September," noting that "the length of the expressway is 1,131 km, while the length of the railway line is 1,201 km."
    The ministry had previously reported the completion of the first section of the development road project, which is the road linking the entrance to Faw Port and the submerged tunnel, which is 63 km long. The road became passable after the completion of the first layer of asphalt, with a length of 51 km, which passes through the submerged tunnel and then passes through two bridges, the first of which has a completion rate of more than 96%, and the second 77%, and the fifth berth of Faw Port has been covered, while the five berths project will be fully received in October of this year according to the specified timetables.
