Basra launches a plan to create residential and industrial areas around the development road

The Assistant Governor of Basra and Director of its Municipality, Hassan Al-Najjar, revealed from a lower location comprehensive preparations to beautify and revive the city’s gardens and parks in the year 2024, while confirming that there are no violations that stand in the way of development.
Al-Najjar said, “The municipality has prepared a major plan to beautify the city and to rehabilitate 81 parks and gardens around the city center for the spring season during the year 2024 as part of the Toward a More Beautiful Basra and Return It Green initiative, which is the largest in the history of Basra, in a way that helps stop the encroachment of the desert and reduce the percentage of carbon and toxins in the city.” City.
The director of the Basra Municipality added from a lower position that “the plan includes reforestation of the city, the rehabilitation of 81 gardens and parks in the center of Basra, and the removal of encroachments,” pointing out that “33 gardens and parks have been referred to specialized companies according to models prepared by the Municipal Parks Division and in different areas located in the old and newly developed neighborhoods in the past period, which Comes with the finished fall campaign.
In addition, he explained that “there are no violations that hinder the path of development, whether the land line or the railway line from it and within the administrative borders of the governorate according to the maps and coordinates of the lands that the strategic road crosses, in addition to providing the opportunity for the local government to establish new cities and other industrial and agricultural cities that accommodate millions of people and a wealth-generating economy.” National income and addressing unemployment in the future.
The spokesman stated that the Division for Removing Encroachments in the Governorate continues its work in removing encroachments on all green areas, parks, and commercial areas without consideration, discrimination, or description of encroachment on green spaces, while directing the Allocated Lands Identification Committee to expedite the production of nurseries, numbering 40, with areas ranging between 2000 m2 and 2500 m2 and changing the use. In preparation for referring it to public bidding in accordance with the law.
Assistant Governor Hassan Al-Najjar pointed out other aspects that fall within its priority, which are “the files of rubble, cleaning, and road maintenance in the governorate center, districts, and districts, as the municipal departments in the districts and districts will manage their work within a program of work, financial financing, and engineering and technical planning for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the areas that fall within their responsibilities according to the projects.” Approved by the governorate.
The Assistant Governor considered that “the year 2024 will witness the implementation of evacuation orders and the lifting of encroachments on state property and areas nominated for investment, and some of the districts in which there are still encroachers will be removed and handed over to the relevant authorities,” noting that “the chaos of commercial activities and unauthorized construction in residential areas will be removed.” Recently, the phenomenon of converting residential areas, whether overlooking the main or secondary streets, into commercial ones, in violation of urban planning, has become widespread, stressing that this lawless chaos will be removed.
 He stated, “Basra carried out the largest operation to lift violations in the year 2023 in the areas of Al-Wafud, Olympic Committee, Al-Andalus, and Al-Ashar Streets in the center of the governorate, and its annual revenues are estimated at more than half a billion dollars, compared to the equivalent wage in those areas.”
