    Baghdad today - Diyala
The flooding of large parts of Baqubah and other cities in Diyala with a wave of rain that lasted only an hour yesterday evening, sparked anger on several levels and sent a message to the Sudanese regarding 3 files, the most prominent of which is “corruption . ”
The head of the Diyala Organization for Human Rights, Talib Al-Khazraji, said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “the drowning of large parts of Baqubah despite spending tens of billions on infrastructure projects exposes the falsity of reconstruction slogans and shows a miserable failure in facing a wave of rain that lasted for an hour,” asking: “How? "What will be the situation in the most important cities of Diyala if the rain wave extends for hours."
He added, "Diyala received hundreds of billions of dinars in multi-headed budgets in the past years, but the reality of the situation indicates that we are facing a province afflicted with all the details and the rain has revealed what is hidden," calling for "the necessity of forming a higher committee headed by Al-Sudani in order to uncover the extent of corruption in Diyala." .
He pointed out that "the wealth of some officials and employees needs to be reconsidered and an effort to uncover the secret of their wealth, which gives indications of the amount of money they have obtained despite the fact that their salaries are very limited."
As for Hassan Ali, an independent politician, he pointed out in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “the continuation of corruption in Diyala came from the immunity of some forces to figures who did not own anything before 2003 and now have become among the wealthy,” pointing out that “we are facing the scene of mafias, some of them He has the weapons and the decision to threaten and blackmail anyone who is exposed or raises the slogan “No to corruption .”
He pointed out that "the theft of the century, which lasted for 5 years, cannot be carried out by junior employees in the accounts department," pointing out that it is "the beginning of revealing what is hidden and the fact that Diyala's money has been plundered for years."
He pointed out that "money laundering is the most prominent sign of corruption in Diyala through the purchase of real estate and lands, causing prices to rise to levels that reached 70% over the years," wondering: Is it reasonable that "the price per square meter in central Baqubah Street reaches 15 million dinars?"
Representative Mudar Al-Karawi acknowledged that the accumulated corruption is a cycle that threatens the security and stability of Diyala and is behind most of its crises, pointing out in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “the theft of the century is only the beginning of exposing the systematic looting of money in which many corrupt people were involved .”
He added, "Al-Sudani is aware of the seriousness of corruption in Diyala and pledged to form a high-level team, in order to look into all its files and seek to recover the money stolen in the theft of the century in Baqubah after its chapters became clear, the names of those involved were identified, and some money was recovered in the past days ."
Yesterday, Baquba and the rest of the cities of Diyala witnessed a wave of heavy rains that caused the flooding of entire neighborhoods and markets, amid a widespread state of alert to avoid a humanitarian tragedy, especially in popular neighborhoods and alleys.
